PRO-ACT (Pennsylvania Recovery Organization - Achieving Community)

Ambassadors for Recovery

PRO-ACT is a grassroots, volunteer-based recovery support organization in Southeastern Pennsylvania serving Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties. Conducting a broad range of education, advocacy and outreach efforts, PRO-ACT aims to:

  • Reduce the stigma of addiction
  • Ensure availability of adequate treatment and recovery support services
  • Effectively influence public opinion and policy regarding the value of recovery

Five committees support PRO-ACT's strategic goals and drive their initiatives:

  • Educating the Community - facilitates the Family Education Program and other education initiatives
  • Amends in Action - Organized activities that allow people in recovery to give back to the community
  • Public Policy - meetings with legislators and policy makers; attends rallies; serves on committee boards; sits in on policy meetings, educates about and enforces ACT 106; conducts focus groups to identify issues through consumer satisfaction surveys
  • Recreation Celebration - provides opportunities for safe, sober fun while helping to build the community of recovery
  • Recovery Support Services - peer-driven recovery support services that help people attain and sustain long-term recovery

There are two Philadelphia locations for PRO-ACT activities. Each Center provides a variety of recovery programs, volunteer training workshops, safe and sober leisure/social activities and other services and supports.
