Mental Health First Aid

The Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) provides free Mental Health First Aid training. Mental Health First Aid teaches the general public how to recognize mental health symptoms and provides a 5-step action plan for initial help to people with signs and symptoms of behavioral health challenges.

Anyone can take the Mental Health First Aid course- family members, neighbors, members and leaders of faith community, professionals and caring citizens.

DBHIDS will provide free monthly Mental Health First Aid sessions throughout 2013. Class size is limited to 30 people. Online pre-registration is required. See the spring 2013 schedule for information and registration instructions.

Each 12-hour training is delivered over 2 days, running from 9 am – 4:30 pm each day (sign-in begins at 8:30 am). Participants must attend the entire 2-days in order to receive the Mental Health First Aider certificate.
