The mission of DBHIDS is to provide effective, compassionate care and services for people with intellectual disability, mental illness, and/or substance abuse issues. Working in partnership with individuals, families, and communities, we provide an array of services to help people face the challenges of daily life and take positive steps toward recovery.
A vast network of agencies offers a full range of treatment options, including individual and family therapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention services to assist individuals and their families in emergency situations.
DBHIDS-funded programs help people return to their communities, enjoy a higher quality of life and achieve a greater degree of independence.
The Warmline staff offers a friendly, caring, sincere and non-judgmental “listening ear” to callers. Warmline staff assists People in Recovery with their goals of recovery through linking callers to resources, teaching callers coping skills, empowering callers to regain control over their lives, providing an alternative to crisis services, reducing unnecessary and unwanted hospitalizations, and instilling hope.
The Warmline is operated by trained Certified Peer Specialists for Philadelphia Residents who are experiencing anxiety, depression, loss, stress, loneliness, relationship difficulties, and other life challenges.
