Protecting the Interests of People In Recovery and Their Families The mission of the Family Training and Advocacy Center (FTAC) is to enhance the quality of care in the behavioral health community. Providing a wide range of activities and initiatives, the work of FTAC is focused on two primary areas: Education Training mental health professionals, including case managers, residential workers and managed care professionals, on a wide range of issues, with an emphasis on the family perspective. Providing specialized training to government agencies, psychiatrists, social workers and criminal justice officials on topics such as crisis intervention, forensics, system development and other emerging issues Offering education programs and support to family members of people in recovery Advocacy Provides policy makers and families with updates on legislation that affect the behavioral health system Serves on government committees to advocate for laws and policies that will improve the delivery of behavioral health services and protect the interests of people in recovery Quick Facts: Focused on advocacy and teaching Support to families and family groups Works with policy makers to improve quality of recovery care Trains behavioral health professionals, law enforcement officials and social workers
